WTF Thursdays (2nd Thurs., monthly) - 5-8pm
For women, trans/gender queer folks, femmes, or anybody else for whom gender has been a barrier to learning mechanics. No one turned away!
Women Femmes Trans (WTF) Night at Troy Bike Rescue is an open shop night that is setup for people who may not necessarily feel comfortable coming to our regular open shop night.
Why?
Discrimination and prejudices exist. People may not be aware of prejudices or necessarily feel like they are prejudice. However, some people are targets of hate and hate violence, and can be nervous about coming into an environment that may not seem open to them at first. WTF Night at TBR is created to be a place where people who experience these prejudices can come in and know they will be treated respectfully as people should.
Everyone is welcome to come into our shop, if they are willing to follow these guidelines. This means we focus on creating a culture without hierarchy, without discrimination and without violence.
If I do not identify as a woman, femme, or trans can I still come to WTF Night?
Yes! Everyone is welcome at WTF night. We advertise focusing on these specific populations so they know it will be a safe space for them. If you want to come and work on your bike and can respect the guidelines we have created, we would love to have you.
