Bike!Bike! Northeast coming in April! - Register online

Troy Bike Rescue is planning a pre-bike-month bike-weekend, and we want you to be involved!  We are inviting bicycle organizers and volunteers of all kinds from not-so-far-off lands to converge on our post-industrial town for a meeting of the minds on all things bicycle culture in the Northeast US.  Through discussions, skillsharing sessions, and bicycle fun, we will come together to learn, share, and build something awesome.  BUT...Bike!Bike! Northeast will only be as cool as we make it, so join us! CLICK HERE TO SEE MORE: BIKE!BIKE! NORTHEAST

Troy Bike Rescue: Holiday Party and Bike Drive

Troy NY - Troy Bike Rescue (TBR) is getting into the holiday spirit, by organizing a children's bike drive to benefit Unity House, Rensselaer County's domestic violence program. TBR will be accepting gently used kids bikes to repair and donate to the program's holiday gift drive. These bikes will end up under Christmas trees and as a part of other holiday celebrations for families who might otherwise not be able to give their kids a bicycle.

Bikes can be dropped off at the Troy workshop, at 51 3rd Street in Troy NY. The shop is open regularly Monday and Wednesdays from 5-8PM. Troy Bike Rescue will be organizing a volunteer day and holiday party, to make sure the bikes are ready to ride on Saturday December 12 from 1 to 5 PM.

Times Union Bike Blog Launched

If you are excited about bicycling, but don't normally find yourself surfing the blogs on the Times Union website, you might want to head over and check out the new TU Bike Blog.  The blog is being updated with fresh content from a team of 8 local cyclist reporters who promise to tell their stories and make biking something that everyday people can connect with.  Maybe this will get more people putting the fun between their legs and biking for transportation!  Regardless, the posts so far have been good reads. Tell your friends.  Leave comments.  Lets take the dialogue on bicycling to the next level in the capital region.    enjoy.

Bicycle Recycling Milestone

Albany/Troy TBR has reached an important milestone. The bike rescue originally began in Troy during the summer of 2001 and has been operating as an all volunteer organization in Albany since October 2003. With the return of Andrew Lynn, Troy TBR is once again at home in its original city of Troy and Albany TBR continues its bike repair in the basement of Trinity Institution.

Learn & Earn Wednesdays

Troy Bike Rescue wll now be open on Wednesdays 5-8pm in Troy!  We will not be doing a typical Open Shop, however. Learn & Earn is a weekly workshop session for people who want to learn  bicycle maintenance skills in a more structured environment.  Individuals wishing to adopt a bike, must attend at least one session. Learn & Earn is for building skills.  It is not a self-service bike repair shop.

Back from Bike Bike!

Hi everyone,

We got back from bike bike late Monday and weren't able to open the shop. Sorry to anyone who may have come Monday night and not heard the word.

Bike Bike 2009 was great. The Grease Pitt put on a great event and we had a lot of fun. We were very envious of the Minneapolis's dedication to usable bike paths, community gardens, free organic food, cooperative businesses, light rail system and a lot of really friendly people.

There were a lot of great workshops on a lot of different shop related topics, and we have some great ideas from the different workshops.

Shop will be closed on August 31st

Hi Everybody

We are still at bike bike and will not have the Troy Workshop open on Monday, August 31st.

We will be open next week during our regular hours.

Albany workshop is still open! Go see them if you need something!

Wish you were here!
