How does this work?
Troy Bike Rescue is not a typical bike shop. We dont have a bunch of bikes lined up for people to come and buy them. Sometimes we get nice bikes donated that do not need much repair and we can sell them as is, but most of the bikes we have need work. Some need a little work. Some need a LOT of work.
In order to get a bike, you need to come, pick it out and fix it up with the help of the volunteers (which might take more than one session depending on the bike). At the end, you donate a combination of whatever you feel its worth and what you can afford. You get a bike... but you also learn how to fix a bike. ...and... you get greasy hands! yay. TBR gets the satisfaction of teaching one more person about the most wonderful machine on earth while getting them out there riding on a recycled bike - and hopefully a small donation too.
So, I want to build a bike!
Great - We meet in both Troy and Albany on separate nights, so you have your choice. There are bikes to choose from and fix up at both locations.
I just need some parts.
Stop by and see whats available! If you need an old derailleur, some brake levers, pedals, a seat, reflectors.... we probably have something for you. Used parts are exchanged for volunteer hours and/or small donations.
TBR in Troy is Monday 6-8pm
at The Yarden - 167 9th st. (corner of 9th & Hutton)
call Andrew ahead of time to confirm - 518-573-7947
TBR in Albanyon Tuesdays and Wednesdays 6-8pm
at Trinity Basement in Albany (on Trinity Place, just South of Madison)

The spaces are very different. The Albany sessions happen in an established indoor work space in the basement of a non-profit. Troy sessions are outdoors (bikes stored in two basements).
